Young Lady Wave soccer team gets baptism by fire

CLAYTON — A young Greenville girls soccer team got a taste of high school soccer this past weekend as the Lady Wave competed in a preseason tournament hosted by Northmont.Greenville had 19 girls, including eight freshmen, for the four games on Saturday and Sunday. It was a good opportunity for the Lady Wave to experience the size and speed of players in the high school game, Greenville coach Steve Shepard said.“Really young team and they got their baptism by fire,” he said. “In the end it was a good two days of practice for them. That’s how I told them to approach it.”Greenville lost each of the four scrimmages it played during the weekend.
