DeGRAFF — The Tri-Village softball team beat Riverside 6-1 in the opening round of the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament on Tuesday.
Tri-Village jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning and extended its lead to 6-0 in the top of the fifth before Riverside scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
Tri-Village out-hit Riverside eight to six in the game. Both teams made four errors.
Rachel Fickert earned the win for Tri-Village as she pitched the complete game, allowing one run on six hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.
Allie Downing was 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two RBI for Tri-Village. Danika Mann went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Ecko Brown was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Krystal Falknor went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Abby Harrison was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Alex Bietry was 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Fickert also drove in a run, and Payge Malott scored a run.
