ANSONIA - There was quite a bit of action in Ansonia over the Fourth of July weekend.

Crowned this year’s Little Miss and Mr. Red, White and Blue were 5-year-old Addison Geyer, daughter of Michelle and Todd Geyer, and 6-year-old Andy Miller, son of Scott and Shelly Miller. That event was organized by Kami Phlipot and the high school cheerleaders.

Seniors Andrea Barga, Makensy Stump and Alicia Mestemaker judged the event, and Kathy Cline served as emcee.

There were a total of 12 contestants; seven girls and five boys. Other contestants were: (girls) Haddie Gilpin, Ava Gosnell, Addison Smith, Shyann McKenna, Karmella Simpson and Lexi Brunner; and (boys) Eli Gosnell, Caleb Eubank, Brody Taylor and Jordan Hernandez.

The event was held at the school.

Preceding the pageant was the annual 5K Firecracker Run.

Both of these events preceded the parade, which featured numerous units, including the grand marshal, Dave Staver and wife Debbie. The parade lineup was led by Mike Stump and family, and Mike and Becky Campbell provided the sound system.

Out at the ballpark, the entire weekend featured softball tournaments under the direction of Jason Hemmerich with other events, including the fireworks at dusk on Friday. Also featured there were horseshoe tournaments, and games, including miniature golf and duckpond, plus a cornhole tournament and the National Kiddie Tractor Pull.

Shelly Lynn entertain the crowd on Friday afternoon.

The American Legion provided the chicken barbecue and sold out early with the 750 halves that were ordered.
