UNION CITY, Ind. — The Corner Cupboard in downtown Union City is hosting a book signing event on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The author of the newly released book “Alvin the Volunteer Therapy Dog,” Shelley Davis, who owns Kids At Heart Publishing in Cambridge City, will be on hand, along with Alvin and his pet parent, Julia Roberts.

Davis interviewed Alvin about his therapy work over the past five years, hoping that children will realize the importance of volunteering. Each book purchased will be stamped with Alvin’s paw print signature. The 30-page books are $17.99 and are loaded with pictures. A portion of the proceeds from sales at this event will be donated to PAWS Animal Rescue & Shelter of Union City.

“Although they are pet friendly at The Corner Cupboard, they do kindly ask that you refrain from bringing your four-legged friends to this event, as this is Alvin’s day to shine,” said organizers.

Books may be reserved by contacting the The Corner Cupboard at 765-964-6080 or message them on Facebook.
