Calling Around Bradford

0

I was driving down the street and noticed a hint of orange in some trees. Immediately, I felt betrayed. Betrayed by summer! The beautiful orange was trying to lure me into fall. For now, I am holding my own. Shopping has also become less enjoyable as fall and Christmas décor are starting to rear their ugly heads. Winter colors of burgundy, navy blue and pine green are starting to line the clothing racks. I protest. I will wear summer dresses and flip flops as long as I can.

It’s not that I do not enjoy fall and all of its splendor, I’m just not ready. I’m not ready to give up on swimsuits, mermaid tails and beautiful the beautiful colors of turquoise, white, coral and light greens. But Mother Nature does as she pleases and cannot be controlled. Regardless, school has started, the marching and football fields are ready for students and the Pumpkin Show is on its way. Just know, I will be kicking and screaming all the way.

Back to school

Don’t forget to save those box tops for our students! Each box top is worth 10 cents. Families, friends and students collected over $3,000 worth of box tops last year! There are several contests held throughout the year that benefit classes with the most box tops. Please save them and remember how such a simple gesture offers new opportunities for our students. Thank you in advance!

There is a K-5 Parent Night scheduled for 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2. Parents will learn about district and elementary events as well as everything you need to know about PBIS, Star/AR, RTI, etc.

Elementary principal Tracy Trogdlon invites parents and community members to email her questions they would like answers to. You can email her at [email protected] with Trogdlon Talks in the subject line. She will then post the answers to the school’s web site. Mrs. Trogdlon is working hard to open the lines of communication and is continually trying to find ways to keep students and parents informed of what is going on at the elementary school.

Athletic Boosters

The Athletic Boosters will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the media center. All parents are encouraged to attend. It’s great to remind ourselves that if there is something we don’t like or don’t understand, the best way to be informed is to take part in these meetings.

Village of Bradford

The village will have its second meeting of the month at 7 p.m. Thursday at the city building. Everyone is the community is encouraged to take part in these proceedings. The council meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month.

Voting season is also among us. There are seats open on the school board and council this year. If you are interested in an open seat now would be a great time to get your name out there.

As always, I look forward to hearing from anyone who would like their little bit of news shared in our article. Please call and leave a message at 937-417-4317 or email [email protected].
