Piqua woman seriously injured in 3-car accident

GREENVILLE – A Piqua woman was seriously injured Friday after her vehicle crossed the center line and hit an oncoming vehicle.

On Jan. 8, 2016 at approximately 2:41 p.m. Darke County deputies along with Gettysburg Fire and Rescue, Bradford Fire and Rescue, Greenville Township Rescue and CareFlight were dispatched to the 8700 Block of U.S. Route 36 East in reference to a three-vehicle, head-on, accident.

The preliminary investigation revealed a silver 2010 Dodge Journey driven by Gale A. Butt 44, Piqua was westbound on U.S. Route 36. Butt’s vehicle traveled left of the center line striking a eastbound silver 2012 Jeep Liberty driven by Casey S. McGlothlin 22, Greenville.

McGlothlin’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway coming to rest in a ditch. Butt’s vehicle continued westbound striking an eastbound maroon 2005 Jeep Liberty driven by Dylan S. Knoop 19, Greenville. Knoop’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway coming to rest in a ditch. Butt’s vehicle continued westbound off the left side of the roadway coming to rest on the crest of a grass hill.

Butts was transported to MiamiValleyHospital by MICU (Mobile Intensive Care Unit) CareFlight declined to fly due to weather conditions.

McGlothlin and his passenger, Brooke N. Harrison 22, Greenville were treated and released from the scene. Knoop was also treated and released from the scene.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
