GREENVILLE — The Greenville Elks Lodge was the scene of the 16th annual awards banquet conducted by the Greenville High School Auto Tech program Thursday night.
The banquet was attended by Auto Tech instructors, students, their parents and community sponsors in partnership with A-YES (Automotive Youth Educational Systems).
Greenville Auto Tech student Jondalar Apple was named Student of the Year.
Awards were also presented to the following businesses and individuals:

Attendees to the banquet were given the privilege of seeing the Auto Tech program’s SkillsUSA Project for 2016, titled “Powering the Future.”
This year’s SkillsUSA project explores alternative energy sources for transportation, such as electricity. The students have constructed a scale model of a future fuel station, along with video images, accompanied by three students — Alyson Hardy, Jacob Mann and Bryan Flory — each explaining details of the project.
As part of the project, the students have been conducting experiments and tabulating data from its 2012 Chevy Volt electric car, acquired last year with the cooperation of many sponsors. The school grounds also host the county’s first electric car charging station, installed last summer.
Last year’s project, “Fueling Your Knowledge” earned a first-place award in Ohio, and earned the school a bronze medal in the national competition.
