ARCANUM — A total of 96 students were presented diplomas marking the end of their high school education during Arcanum-Butler High School’s commencement exercises held Sunday.

John Stephens, superintendent of the Arcanum-Butler School District, exhorted the class of 2016 to “Go out every day and be the best version of you,” adding, “It’s simple — choose to be happy, be a positive person.”

Deb Dynes, from Arcanum’s class of 1978, gave a commencement address, urging students to practice integrity.

“Success will come and go, but integrity is forever,” she said.

This year’s valedictorian was Alexis Kreusch, with Holly Grosch as class salutatorian.

Following the presentation of the class, graduates gave flowers to cherished family members.
