North Star Picnic opens Friday

NORTH STAR — The 64th annual North Star Picnic is slated for this coming weekend and will be held at the North Star Community center July 17-19.

One of the main highlights once again will be the parade. Parade marshal is Willard Gehron of North Star.

First-, second- and third-place awards will be given for the following categories: Best Men’s Marching Unit, Best Women’s Marching Unit, Best Commercial Float and Best Civic Float.

Friday:

6 p.m. Coed Softball Tournament

After softball live music

July 18

10 a.m. Softball tournament continues

6 to 10 p.m. Cruise-in

8 to 11:30 p.m. Renegade Band

July 19

9 a.m. 5k Angel Run

2 p.m. Parade

2- 6 p.m. Antique Tractor Show

2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Cornhole tournament registration

3 p.m. Pedal tractor pull

4 p.m. Cornhole tournament

4 p.m. Barbecue chicken by “Rocky” (eat in or carry out)

5: p.m. Talent show

6:30 p.m. Dodge ball

9 p.m. Large raffle drawing

Concessions and children’s games/attractions will be running at all times throughout the duration of the picnic. Proceeds to benefit North Star American Legion and North Star Fire Department.

“Most of the proceeds go to the North Star Fire Company and American Legion Post #174,” said Travis Wilker, a committee member. “The remaining proceeds from the various stands go to the 4-H clubs, Girl scouts, Little League and church youth groups.”
