Train strikes pedestrian

EATON — Several railroad crossings in the the City of Eaton were closed for at least three hours last Thursday, July 9, as crews dealt with the investigation into a pedestrian being struck and killed on a railroad trestle.

According to Eaton Police Chief Chad DePew, at just after 7 p.m., City of Eaton Police, Fire, and EMS personnel were dispatched to the railroad tracks, west of Park Avenue in the city, on the report of an individual that had been struck by a moving train.

Upon arrival officers found Teddy Tucker, age 53 of Eaton, deceased.

Tucker was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders and the Preble County Coroner.

According to DePew, the incident is believed to be a deliberate suicide attempt, but remained under investigation at press time.

An autopsy was to be performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
