DARKE COUNTY — Residents in Darke County cast ballots on a variety of local issues November 8, with all gaining passage according to unofficial results provided by boards of elections in Auglaize, Darke, Miami, and Preble Counties.

The issues of electric and gas aggregation were passed by voters in Greenville, Greenville Township, Ansonia, Wayne Lakes, and Brown Township.

Voters in Darke, Miami and Shelby Counties approved the renewal of a 0.6-mill levy for the Tri-County Board of Recovery & Mental Health Services, a levy providing counseling and supportive services to children and adults.

Voters in Van Buren Township approved two new tax levies.

The first, a 0.5-mill levy, is for maintaining and operating cemeteries in the township, passed by 12 votes, 400 to 388. The second 0.5-mill levy, for general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing, and repair of streets, roads, and bridges in Van Buren Township, passed 455 to 332.

Residents of Ansonia approved a five-year, 3-mill renewal levy for current expenses, 272 to 158.

Hollansburg voters approved a five-year, 6-mill renewal levy for current expenses by a vote of 62 to 30.

Adams Township voters in Fire District No. 1 voted for renewal of a five-year, 1-mill levy for fire protection and emergency medical services, 749 to 269.

Mississinawa Valley voters approved — 772 to 695 — the renewal of a 0.75-percent annual income tax for current expenses.

Some Darke County voters participated in voting for issues in adjoining counties.

Bradford residents approved a five-year, 7-mill renewal levy for construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of streets and roadways. It passed 495 to 261.

By a vote of 1,651 to 521, voters approved the renewal of a 1-percent income tax (15 years) for current operating expense for the Minster Local School District.

As well, voters passed a Minster School District renewal levy of 0.8 mills (five years) for permanent improvements to maintain, remodel and repair plant facilities and to acquire and replace equipment. The vote was 1695 for and 487 against.

In Preble County, a 2-mill, five-year renewal levy for improving and renovating school buildings and providing equipment and furnishings for the Tri-County North School District passed by a vote of 1,107 to 848.

In all, the Darke County Board of Elections reports that voter turnout in the county was 74.60 percent of registered voters in the 2016 election, down some from 2012’s voter turnout of 81.19 percent.

The board also reported there were 439 provisional ballots cast countywide. The final vote count is expected to be completed November 29.
