GREENVILLE – A couple from Illinois were airlifted Sunday afternoon after an accident left them with serious injuries.

At approximately 12:07 p.m. Darke County Sheriff’s deputies along with Greenville Township Rescue, Tri-Village Rescue, Arcanum Rescue, New Madison Fire, and CareFlight responded to an injury accident with multiple injuries at the intersection of State Route 121 and U.S. Route 36.

The preliminary investigation revealed a Grey 2014 Honda CRV driven by Alan Long, 54, Belleville, Illinois and his wife Amy Long, 52, a front passenger, and son Eric Long, 26, a rear seat passenger were traveling westbound on U.S. Route 36. The family’s car, a Honda CRV, was struck in the driver side and then traveled off the Northwest corner of the intersection and came to rest over 1,000 feet into a bean field.

Alan and Amy were taken to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight. Eric was uninjured. Finlay was transported to Wayne HealthCare in Greenville for minor injuries.

The condition of the Longs are unknown at this time.
