GREENVILLE — “The Wonderful World of Dr. Seuss” was the Special Display at St. Mary’s Catholic School “Spring Spectacular”, Monday April 24, in Greenville.

Guests were led on a pathway through the “World” that included sound effects, hand-made decorations by St. Mary’s students and staff, and real live portrayals of Dr. Seuss characters. St. Mary’s Art Teacher Sherry Myers said everyone enjoyed the creative process.

“That is what is important,” she said. “It is a lot of work, but so worth it and everybody gets involved.”

In addition to art, the event showcased the diversity of the students’ talents through science, social studies and other projects. St. Mary’s Fifth-Grade student Anne Gibson said she liked all of the art projects this year. Some of her class projects included painting ancient Egyptian art, including hieroglyphs and cuneiforms that were found on the temple walls.

“I think everyone should be a part of this even if they don’t go here, because it’s a good bonding experience with the school and the other people outside of the school,” Gibson said.

St. Mary’s Principal Vernon Rosenbeck was impressed with students and the staff.

“They put it all together – it’s believable the talent they have,” he said.
