Two-car accident causes fatality

PITSBURG, Ohio — One person is dead following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon near Pitsburg.

On June 14 at 2:59 p.m., Darke County Sheriff’s deputies along with Pitsburg Fire Department, Arcanum Rescue, the Darke County Coroner’s Office, and the Darke County Accident Reconstruction Team responded to State Route 49 in the area of Miller-Brumbaugh Road on a fatal accident.

The preliminary investigation shows that a northbound 1999 red Dodge Caravan driven by Eric J. Hess, 46, of Greenville, Ohio, entered into the southbound lane of State Route 49. The vehicle Hess was driving struck a 2004 white Buick LeSabre that was traveling southbound, driven by Marjorie Biddlestone, 84, of Vandalia, Ohio. Biddlestone was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Miami Valley Hospital’s CareFlight was originally called to the scene, then cancelled.

This accident remains under investigation by the the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and Darke County Coroner’s Office.
