Crash at Hogpath, 127 ends in fatality

DARKE COUNTY — An early morning accident involving two vehicles south of Greenville claimed the life of a motorist Sunday.

At approximately 2:36 a.m., Darke County Sheriff’s deputies, along with New Madison Fire and Tri-Village Rescue, were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. Route 127 and Hogpath Road in reference to a two-vehicle injury accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Ford Taurus was westbound on Hogpath Road approaching the intersection at U.S. Route 127 when it failed to stop at the posted stop sign. The Ford Taurus entered the path of a southbound 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Tyler Stone, 22, of Brookville, Ohio. Stone’s vehicle struck the Ford Taurus on the passenger side causing both vehicles to travel off the west side of U.S. 127. The Ford Taurus then struck a utility pole and a group of trees before coming to rest. Stone’s vehicle overturned onto the driver’s side before coming to rest.

The driver of the Ford Taurus, identified as Kristen N Lee, 27 of Arcanum, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Stone sustained minor injuries and refused treatment by Tri-Village Rescue at the scene.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and Darke County Coroner’s Office.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that happened early Sunday morning. One person was declared dead at the scene.
