Water boil advisory for Ansonia

ANSONIA — The Village of Ansonia is under a water boil advisory, according to Village Administrator Tom Welbaum.

The boil advisory went into effect approximately 7 a.m. Monday morning.

“We’re not 100 percent sure what caused it,” Welbaum said. “We know a fuse got knocked out at the water plant, either from the wind or rain. The pressure dropped too low.”

As a result of the boil advisory, Ansonia Local Schools cancelled classes for the day.

Welbaum said he’s not certain when the boil advisory will be lifted, but said he hoped it would be within the next 24 to 48 hours, pending water samples being lab tested.

He said residents should not consume or cook with water unless it has been boiled or they should use pre-bottled water. He said showering should be fine.
