GREENVILLE — The Greenville Police Department has a new Operations Lieutenant in former Detective Eric Roberts.

He was sworn in Monday by Greenville Mayor Steve Willman, with his wife Christy and son Phillip by his side.

According to Greenville Police Chief Steve Strick, Roberts is getting promoted two ranks, and will immediately take over the day-to-day operations in his new position as Operations Lieutenant. Roberts said he took the promotional exam, which is competitive. His score put him in the position to be offered the job first, he said.

As he was sworn in, council chamber seats were filled with his fellow officers, family, friends, and members of other city departments.
