BRADFORD – Bradford Public Library is gearing up for fall activities with a number of events planned in October.

Bradford Public Library’s STEAM for homeschoolers will return from 10:15-11:30 a.m. Oct. 11. Homeschoolers in the first through eighth grades are welcome to join the library for hands-on activities centered on science, technology, engineering, art and math. There is no cost for the monthly workshops. Preregistration is requested so material can be gathered. People can stop by or call the library at 448-2612 to register. Questions about our STEAM programs can be answered by Stacie at the same number. Workshops will be held the second Thursday of each month through the school year.

Darke County Health Department will be at the Bradford Public Library from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Oct. 18 for flu shots. First come first served. Flu shots will be available for babies six months old and up.

Hannah Pennington also will be at the library on Oct. 18 for a make and take workshop on optimal digestion. Patrons can join to learn how essential oils can help uncover simple ways to have a healthy digestive system. Class will be $10 per person. Bob Daugherty will be back to entertain the bravest patrons on Oct. 23 with his Spooktacular Storytelling from 7-8:15 p.m. This popular program will fill up quickly so patrons should be sure to arrive early to get a seat. The haunted tales are for patrons in sixth grade and up. Bradford Public Library will show a movie for our younger ones that night. Snacks will be provided. Pre-registration is not required.

From 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 will be the library’s Harvest Party for children in grades K-5. Kids can join some good old-fashioned games, activities and treats. Participants should not wear costumes so everyone can participate in all the fun safely. Pre-registration is required so library staff can plan accordingly. Call the library or stop by to sign up.

Cardio Drumming will return to the Bradford Public Library. The first class will be from 7-8 p.m. Oct. 29. The library will have classes from 7-8 p.m. Monday evenings and will offer Wednesday morning classes from 9-10 a.m. for those who prefer a morning workout. Sign up in advance is required. Classes are free; participants’ only cost will be in equipment. Participants will need to have a stability ball (yoga ball), a large garden tub or laundry basket and a set of drumsticks. All can be purchased for less than $30. As with any new workout, the library recommends individuals consult their doctor before beginning. Workout routines can be modified by individuals to suit their fitness level and physical limitations. Call BPL to sign up or have any questions answered.
