Versailles to host 30th annual MAC Scholastic Bowl

VERSAILLES — The 2018-19 Mercer Savings Bank MAC Scholastic Bowl will be held beginning at 4 p.m. Monday at Versailles High School in the high school cafetorium.

This year marks the 30th annual tournament and is sponsored by Mercer Savings Bank and coordinated by Wendi Moorman, gifted programs coordinator, Mercer County ESC.

Students will compete by providing answers to questions in all subject areas. Students will compete in nine rounds with 15 questions in each round.

Each team is given two challenges to use throughout the bowl. Total points win, ties between first and second place will be broken with an additional round of 10 questions.

The MAC Scholastic League is a program that promotes academic recognition. Teams participate in eight matches from the beginning of September through early November. The league holds matches for junior varsity and varsity teams.

The league includes the Midwest Athletic Conference schools of Coldwater, Fort Recovery, Marion Local, Minster, New Bremen, New Knoxville, Parkway, St. Henry and Versailles.

Representing the Mercer Savings Bank, Joseph Faller will present prize money and the traveling trophy to to the top five teams. Plaques will be awarded to the top three teams in the league.
