Darke County deputies investigate armed robbery at New Madison Mini Mart

NEW MADISON — The New Madison Mini Mart was robbed at gunpoint Monday evening as the store was preparing to close for the night.

At approximately 10 p.m., deputies from the Darke County Sheriff’s Department responded to 406 S. Main St. in New Madison to the report of a possible armed robbery.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Department, a subject entered the business and brandished a gun to two employees before making off with an unknown amount of money.

Radio traffic reported that witnesses described the suspect as a white male, possibly in his 20s, who was believed to be dressed in black and wearing a black ski mask with only his eyes showing.

Deputies requested the use of K9 officers at the scene to aid in the tracking of the suspect, who may have left the area on foot.

Additional details will be reported as they become available. The robbery is an ongoing investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
