Council bids farewell to Subler

VERSAILLES — Versailles Village Council said goodbye to a longtime member who decided not to run for reelection in November. Council Member Jeff R. Subler was honored at Tuesday night’s meeting, along with retiring EMS Administrator Jean Buxton.

Subler and Buxton were both presented certificates of appreciation for their years of service to the village.

As one of his final acts in office, Subler, who serves as president pro tem, administered the oaths of office to returning Mayor Jeff A. Subler and returning Council Member Todd Dammeyer.

A special meeting, to be held in executive session, will be Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. to interview candidates to fill the vacancy on council.

Incoming EMS Administrator Matthew Harvey provided a presentation of the 2016 EMS update for council, including future training plans and grant opportunities, as well as planned equipment upgrades to comply with expected mandates.

Harvey said he would like the village to partner with Mercer County for training, as Mercer County has its own training academy. Some classes would be conducted in Versailles, he said. A

In other business, council heard the second reading on an ordinance approving an agreement with the Community Improvement Corporation for unneeded village property, and another ordinance was passed an emergency to sell another plot of land.

Final appropriations adjustments for 2015 were made, and the appropriations for 2016 were approved.

The full-time employment status of Kyle Francis as village utilities superintendent was approved, as he has successful completed his six-month probationary period.

Council approved a motion to authorized Sawvel & Associates to complete the Consulting Engineers Feasibility Study for the 4kV to 12kV electrical system upgrade. The study is required to get financing for the project.

A resolution also was passed to advertise for bids for the Greenlawn and East Water Street Substations Voltage Regulator Addition.
