DARKE COUNTY - Karan Hoschouer, August’s Volunteer of the Month, is most often seen volunteering at the Darke County Parks District in the Nature Center’s reception area, or hosting at the Log House in period attire, said Laura Schwieterman, volunteer coordinator for the park district, and she does an outstanding job, Schwieterman added.

Hoschouer has been involved with the Darke County Parks’ Prairie Days, candlelight dinners, Maple Syrup Festival, and assisting with other volunteer opportunities that might pop up, Schwieterman stated in her nomination of Hoschouer.

“For the last three years, Karan has been volunteering with the park district, and enjoys working in a team environment with other volunteers and park staff,” Schwieterman stated. “She encourages others to volunteer since it is so rewarding, too,” Schwieterman added.

“You get to meet new people, and make new friends all of the time,” Hoschouer noted.

Hoschouer lives in Greenville, and is retired from Administrative Services, Schwieterman reported, and hopes that “all the plans and dreams become a reality for the park district” and that the district continues to grow, Schwieterman added.

“Thank you, for everything, Karan!” Schwieterman stated.
