Honors earned at national convention

VERSAILLES – Versailles FFA sent 25 member to the 88th Annual National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. In total, more than 66,000 FFA members attended, which was a new record and makes the National FFA Convention the world’s largest youth convention. FFA members from all over the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands participated.

Katerri Schmitmeyer won the National FFA Dairy Placement Proficiency. She works on her parents’ dairy operation, Line- View Farms LLC. She milks, feeds, vaccinates and keeps records for the farm.

Versailles FFA also was recognized as a Three Star National FFA Chapter and a Top 10 chapter in the student division.

Four members also received their American FFA Degree, the highest honor an FFA member can receive at a National Level. They were Dylan Hesson, Matt Stucke, Alex Stucke and Katie Heckman.

Versailles members who attended the convention were Andrew Harshbarger, Max Stachler, Tessa Tyo, Tyler Pleiman, Janelle Hoelscher, Marcus Berger, Jacob Wuebker, Lewis Kremer, Faith Wilker, Logan Schultz, Kayla Bruns, J.J. Petijiean, Amberlyn Riley, Ashley Petijiean, Maggie Hedrick, Deanna Hesson, Shelby Winner, Danielle Hesson, Sarah Gigandet, Troy May, Katerri Schmitmeyer and Makayla Berger.
