DARKE COUNTY - Flames engulfed the upper floor of a 2-story home at 6142 Hartzell Rd. Saturday evening.
Gettysburg Fire Department responded to the scene just after 7 p.m. They immediately requested a second alarm to get help in battling the blaze. Firefighters made their way into the house and quickly gained control of the flames, but not before significant damage was already done to the home.
The homeowners got out of the residence unharmed and according to online posts, so did their pets. Darke County Red Cross was called to aid the family.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time, but appears the fire started on the second floor of the home.
