GREENVILLE – The Green Wave showcased their 2014 girls and boys soccer teams Saturday in their annual alumni games.
“Get the teams out, get them loosened up and show the people the new Lady Wave for this year,” Greenville Lady Wave head varsity soccer coach Steve Shepard said.
“A friendly exhibition between us and a few of the alumni,” Shepard added.
The 2014 Lady Wave wore green in the exhibition soccer match while the alumni were outfitted in pink.
Shepard will putt a young team on the field for the Lady Wave having graduated four seniors. The 2014 team will include 10 freshmen in uniform.
Coach Shepard is encouraged with his 2014 team after four pre-season scrimmages including participation in a Northmont pre-season tournament and traveling to Coldwater.
“It’s coming,” Shepard said. “There is a lot of work to do but its promising. We’ve scored two goals in every game at Northmont.
“We tied 4-4 at Coldwater,” Shepard said. “We have already put more goals on the board than we did all last year in a few scrimmages this year, so it encouraging.”
