Students graduate with honors
ADA — Ohio Northern University announced two local students recently graduated with honors.
Darick Hiatt, son of Daren and Jeanelle Hiatt, Union City, graduated magna cum laude from the College of Pharmacy. He received the Doctorate of Pharmacy.
Brittany Johns, daughter of Courtney Kittora and Brian Johns, both of Union City, graduated cum laude from the College of Arts and Sciences. She received the Bachelor of Arts in political science.
Both are graduates of Mississinawa Valley.
Student participate in symposium
FINDLAY — Nearly 800 students at The University of Findlay recently participated in the annual Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity. Held on campus, undergraduate and graduate students were given the opportunity to share their research, creativity and professional learning experiences with the university and community.
Local students participating were Chelsea Berning, of Greenville; Allison Dilbone, of St. Henry; Andrea Holthaus, of Fort Loramie; and Darrell Thobe, of Covington.
Receiving awards were Shelby Brunswick, of Fort Recovery; Mitchell Campbell, of Versailles; Steven Gehret, of Fort Loramie; Janel Hemmelgarn, of St. Henry; Alyssa Kemper, of Yorkshire; Jason Marchal, of New Weston; Stephanie Mescher, of Maria Stein; Rebecca Meyer, of Fort Loramie; Derek Milbourn, of Versailles; and Sarah Osterloh, of Versailles.
The Andersons awards scholarships
MAUMEE — The Andersons Inc. awarded scholarships to graduating seniors in community where the company has operations.
Local students receiving those scholarships were Anne Bradfield, of Greenville, and Caroline Prakel, of Versailles.
De Schepper inducted into honor society
BEREA — Courtney De Schepper, of Ansonia, was inducted into Baldwin Wallace University’s Kappa Omega Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), International Honor Society in Education in the spring 2015 semester.
Membership requires full junior standing; a minimum of 66 semester hours of university credits, a minimum of 16 semester hours of graded work at Baldwin Wallace, at least a 3.4 overall GPA, at least 12 semester hours of professional education courses completed, and acceptance into a teacher education program.
De Schepper, a graduate of Greenville Senior High School majoring in education with a focus on mild/moderate educational needs, shared the honor with 18 other juniors and seniors.
Braun wins scholarship
PORTLAND, Ind. — Rachel Braun, a recent graduate of Jay County High School, was among 17 awarded a $1,000 by Harvest Land Co-op.
Scholarships are based on need, leadership, community service, agricultural interest and scholastics.
Harvest Land supports agriculture and young farmer programs including FFA and 4-H. It is an agribusiness owned cooperatively by farmers in east central Indiana and southwest Ohio.
