Just when there was hope for spring, we hear the weather reports and begin to stock the cupboard and cancel plans for the weekend. By the time you read this column the truth will be known but it sounds like a slam dunk for the lion in the annual March lion-lamb game.

One thing you can do with your time while trapped in the house is discuss next summer’s side trips and maybe a vacation. Get out the maps or pop up maps on your computer screen and decide what sounds interesting, and possible. It certainly helps to beat these winter blues.

Maybe you can print some favorite pictures from those stored photos and frame them to get a sense of change and good times. Start thinking about sprucing up a room or two with paint and polish. Or consider what flowers will be planted this spring.

Or, just put your feet up, wrap yourself in a blanket and watch Jack Frost continue to enjoy the winter spree.

There are some good ways to help with the doldrums of this season.

The Drama Club will present this year’s stage production on March 7 and 8. “Midsummer/Jersey” will be spinning a new version of Shakespeare’s play. You can enjoy a good laugh at Tri-Village at 7 p.m. for $10.

The Community Supper is set for Tues., March 11, at the Fort Black Masonic Lodge. The serving begins at 5 p.m. and offers the warmth of chicken and noodles, beef and noodles and sausage and kraut. It is a $7 donation and you can return to the serving line! These funds help to support lodge activities and community events. It is a good time to see friends.

The Laroy Farst Post 245, American Legion, will be holding its birthday and recognition banquet on March 9.

Members will enjoy a carry in meal.

The Auxiliary Spaghetti supper is planned for March 22 and it is open to the public. This is another time to close down your kitchen and enjoy the cooking at the Legion. Serving begins at 5 p.m.

The auxiliary is also planning its annual Easter Market. Baked good and Easter favorites will be available on April 18 beginning at 5 p.m. and then on April 19, starting at 9 a.m.

The auxiliary proceeds will help sponsor two Buckeye Girls State entries.

Another escape from the weather is the computer class at the library on March 4. The class is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you have a laptop, take it with you. If you don’t have access to one, the library will help you out. Learn some basics with instruction that is planned around your needs. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is presenting this opportunity.
