Another memorable event for my son, Jamie, this past weekend. He spent some time with classmates at their 20th annual reunion [that can’t be].
Those in attendance ate at Turtle Creek Golf Course and later went to Chris Warner’s house near Rossburg.
He was really looking forward to it as he always does when it comes to his classmates. He wanted me to put something in my column and then he handed me his own hand-written material. That makes my job easier. So here goes some of the excerpts from his message [and, like always, he has a lot to say with not that much room available here.] Here it goes:
“I enjoyed myself at the 20th class reunion. We were blessed to have beautiful weather.
“Those who came were Tammy Nieport Tollefson and guest Derek Tutwiler; Chris Warner and his wife; Jenny Moyers Heitkamp and husband; Mary Ann Barga; Jason Billenstein and his wife; Beth Cline Turner and husband Dan; Kelli Morrow Nicodemus and her husband; and myself.
“I felt like as if [the late] Stephanie Billenstein York, Chrissy Moody Nelson and Adam Archey were looking down on us and smiling.
“There’s not a day goes by that I don’t think about my classmates and I really mean that from the bottom of my heart and soul. I think we should get together more often but than just every other five years or so. We should get together sometime, maybe at the county fair. I would love to spend more time with you guys but it is up to you.
“We had group pictures taken after we ate, and then we went to Chris and Jennifer’s House. I wasn’t at Chris and Jennifer’s for very long, but I was thankful for being part of the reunion and I felt blessed to have them in my life.”
Tomorrow will be the 14th anniversary of my kidney removal, and it was the only Darke County Fair in my recollection that I’ve ever missed. I came home from the hospital the first day of the fair that year and, of course, was too sore and too leery of the hustle and bustle of the crowds to attend. And, even though I got a tempting invitation [NOT] to go with a friend bungee-jumping at the fair, I declined. For one, I’m not too fond of heights and the other was obvious…I was in pain.
But, I’m planning on being there again this year working and hopefully getting to see a lot of friends and making new ones.

Think about it: Where I was born and where and how I have lived is unimportant. It’s what I have done with where I have been that should be of interest. - Georgia O’Keeffe
