Have you ever failed God … repeatedly?
Have you ever wondered how God reacts when you fail?
Do you ever feel like everything is going along just fine and then, BAM!, satan sneaks in and knocks you down flatter than a flitter by reminding you of your horrendous failures? Satan is such an expert at making us feel worthless, guilty, and not worthy of God’s love, grace and forgiveness.
When these moments arrive in your life and tend to overwhelm you … pause and take a long look at a story found in the New Testament book of John 8:11. Jesus is speaking to a woman who was actually caught in the act of adultery. The religious leaders were trying to trap Jesus; and these same self-righteous men were also anxiously waiting to kill this woman. But, Jesus softly says to this humiliated, shame-ridden woman, “I don’t judge you guilty. You may go now, but don’t sin anymore.”
I think we should have those words framed and hanging on the wall in our home, office, school …
My favorite author, Max Lucado, wrote these words in regards to John 8:11 … “Take Him with you to your canyon of shame. Invite Christ to journey with you … to stand beside you as you re-tell the events of the darkest nights of your soul. And then listen. Listen carefully. He’s speaking … “I don’t judge you guilty.” And watch. Watch carefully. He’s writing. He’s leaving a message. Not in the sand - - but on a Cross; not with His hand, but with His blood. His message has two words: “NOT GUILTY!”
May those two powerful words from Jesus Christ bring to you today some sweet comfort and much needed encouragement!
Live today as one who is not burdened down with guilt. You are NOT GUILTY!
Ahhhhhhhhh … praise God from whom ALL blessings flow!!
