DARKE COUNTY — Scott George, who grew up in New Madison and now living outside of Tipp City, visited the Great Darke County Fair, this time announcing that he is running against John Boehner, current Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and a representative of the 8th congressional district.

“Part of it is I’m looking that it’s time for a change in office,” George said after visiting the Republican tent at the fair. “He [Boehner] has not accurately represented the people in the district and the timing is good.”

The 1985 Tri-Village High School graduate earned his degree in electronics at ITT, and is now working for Minardi Marking in Miamisburg, after having spent 20 years for IAMS and Proctor & Gamble in Lewisburg.

He is the son of Richard and the late Peggy George of New Madison. He also has two sisters, Monyca Schlechty and Dawn Mikesell.

George and his wife Ruthann met at the IAMS Co. in Dayton, he said. They have two children, Sarah, 8, and Connor, 6.

George said he has worked around training and development via the Assoaiton for Talent Developmente.

“I’ve always been interested in politics,” said George, who will be running on the Republican ticket. “But, I’ve never run for office before. The idea of serving other people I find satisfying and gratifying.”

Another candidate for the elected position, George said, is J.D. Winteregg.
