CELINA — The Versailles baseball team beat Celina in extra innings on Monday, winning 13-8 in eight innings.
Versailles fell in a hole early with Celina scoring two runs in the first inning and one in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. Versailles tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth inning and took a 7-3 lead in the sixth inning.
Celina scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and then scored one in the seventh to tied the game at 7-7 and force extra innings.
In the eighth Versailles scored six runs while limiting Celina to one to win 13-8.
Versailles had 18 hits and three errors in the game. Celina had eight hits and two errors.
Austin Knapke earned the win for Versailles, allowing one run on two hits, two walks and one strikeout in two innings on the mound. Jake Wenning, Jared Niekamp and Jared Heitkamp pitched the other six innings.
Kyle Rutschilling was 5-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored. Derek Borhorst went 3-for-5 with a walk, a RBI and two runs scored.
Nic Moorman went 2-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI for Versailles. Mike Davidson was 2-for-5 with a walk, a double and two RBI.
Jace Barga was 1-for-5 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI. Jake Wenning was 1-for-3 with three walks, three runs scored and two RBI.
Mitch Gigandet was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.
Versailles improved to 4-3 with the win.
