FAIRBORN — The Versailles girls golf team shot its best round of the season on Monday at Fairborn’s Skyhawk Invitational at Twin Base Golf Course.
The Versailles girls shot a 353, their best score of the year, to place fifth out of 14 teams in the Skyhawk Invitational.
Centerville one won the team tournament with a 319, Springboro finished second with a 327, Chaminade-Julienne shot a 339 to place third, and Troy shot a 347 to finish fourth as a team.
Centerville two shot a 380 to place sixth, Alter shot a 395 to place seventh, Miamisburg shot a 398 for an eighth-place finish, Northmont shot a 403 to finish ninth, Lebanon shot a 410 to place 10th, Butler was 11th with a 441, Kettering shot a 445 to finish 12th, and Springfield shot a 485 to finish 13th. Fairborn had just three golfers.
Madison Covault led Versailles with her 18-hole round of 80, which put her in third place individually overall. Hannah Niekamp shot an 86 for the Lady Tigers, Lauren Heitkamp shot a season-best score of 93, Kaitlyn Middendorf shot a season-best score of 94, Morgan Middendorf shot a 119, and Lauren Durham shot a 124.
Hannah McCrabb of Springboro won the medalist honors with a round of 75. Centerville’s Esha Kulkarni finished second with a 76 while Versailles’ Covault was third with an 80. Centerville’s Amanda Hayes, Centerville’s Stephanie Heimbach, Centerville’s Madison Wolters and Troy’s Caitlin Dowling all finished tied for fourth with an 81.
