On Aug. 1, local resident Jason Daugherty suffered an aneurysm and is currently in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital where he has undergone three surgeries. He suffers from AVM-brain arteriovenous malformation-the tangle of abnormal blood vessels connecting arteries and veins in the brain. Doctors have found three aneurysms and blocked all of them. The ICU is currently keeping him comfortable while Jason goes through the recover process and further testing. At this time, the family is in need of financial help for medical expenses and for his care once he is released. Friends of Jason and his wife, Christine are organizing a couple of fundraisers to help the family at this time. Both Jason and Christine are both very well-know members of our community. Organizers state that they were overwhelmed when friends began organizing fundraising efforts.

A Garage Sale for the Daugherty’s will be held one-day only on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the home of Brad and Deanna Troutwine, 5 Ivestor Lane, Arcanum, Ohio. Donations for the garage sale are being sought and may be dropped off at the Troutwine’s home by Sept. 4. If you have items and cannot bring them to their home, please let them know and they will arrange for someone to pickup your items.

Additionally, there are donation jars located in many businesses in Arcanum including Miller’s Tavern, Ben Franklin, Huston’s, Arcanum Hardware, Nancy’s, Belle Foile, Suttons, Modern Impressions and in Pitsburg at the Bar and Grill.

Another fundraising campaign is also on the web for the Daugherty Family at www.gofundme.com/frzc2n98 .

The Great Darke County Fair begins in just four days! Can you believe it? The Arcanum A# Music Boosters invite you to come visit them at the fair. The A# Music Boosters and their food concession have been a fixture at the Darke County Fair for a little over 40 years. They are still in the same location next to the miniature golf course, and there is still seating available under the tent. As always they will serve their wonderful sandwiches, french fries, kid’s meals, and Mehaffie’s pies. See you at the A# Tent!

“The Great Darke County Fair is like a holiday. I look forward to it all year long to go back again and see old friends and savor the food delights! Even though, year after year, we do the same things, it never disappoints.” ~anonymous
