Sweet and Sassy: Wallace shares happiness

By Linda Moody

Son Jamie and I had fun again at another event: Brenda Wallace’s graduation party last Saturday afternoon.

I knew quite a few people there and I am especially glad that former classmates of Brenda’s showed up for the occasion for her sake. There is nothing better than being surrounded by good friends when celebrating an achievement.

My son and I actually showed up a week early, to the event, but I swear Facebook said it was to be held Oct. 23 but when I got back home to check, sure enough it was Oct. 30. Silly me, I hadn’t opened up the invitation because I hadn’t been to the mailbox. Imagine that, the biggest procrastinator ever I am.

Nonetheless, we had a great time and I think everybody there would say the same thing. We spent some time talking to Carol Gower Fasnacht, Tom and Becky Everhart and Eric Fee, as well as Brenda’s two children, Teresa and Jamie.

What an accomplishment! After going through health woes, Brenda decided to get her high school diploma, 45 years later.

She went all the way at the party by wearing a cap and gown, Class of 2015 decorations and refreshments, including a cake made by my friend, Susie Francis, which, by the way, was tasty as always.

If her attitude and perseverance continue, Brenda should go far toward bigger and better things.

As we left the party, I was telling her significant other, Ned, that the food was delicious. He said Brenda did all of the cooking for it but was quick to let me know that he can cook just as well. Sounds like another story for me. That’s another reason I like going to these affairs; I get fodder for additional stories.

Congratulations and good luck, Brenda! You are very deserving of this honor.
