February is “Love Your Library” month! Come to the Arcanum Public Library to discover all that the library can do for you. Did you know that at the library you can: send a fax, play a game, pick up tax forms, search the web, do genealogy research, host a meeting and more in addition to checking out books and movies.

The Arcanum Public Library has a lot of activities planned for February. Come join the fun!

On Feb. 15, they will be showing two movies: Hotel Transylvania 2 will begin at 11 a.m. and Ant-Man will start at 2:30 p.m. On Feb. 20, they will be showing War Room at 11 a.m. Popcorn will be served at all of the movies.

On Feb. 25, the library will be hosting a Game Day for kids after school. Come anytime from 3 to 5 p.m. to enjoy an afternoon of board games and snacks.

Bring your child to the very popular Storytime sessions held on Tuesdays at the library. Kids up to preschool age sing songs, listen to stories, and make crafts. This Tuesday, there will be a Valentine’s Party at 10:30 a.m.

Also on Tuesdays, February 9, 16, and 23, kids in grades 1-4 can head over to the library after school for AfterWords from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., and kids will be able to gather with friends, play games, and more!

If you would like more information about these programs or what else the library can help you with, feel free to give them a call at 937-692-8484 or visit their website at www.arcanumpubliclibrary.org, or check out their Facebook page.

Faith United Methodist Church in Arcanum will be hosting a “Parent’s Night Out for Valentines” on Saturday from 5 to 9:30 p.m for children in the Arcanum Butler School District ages pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. They will be providing free child care so parents can enjoy a night out without their children as a gift of Christian love. They will provide a light meal and snacks for the kids and involve them in games, crafts, story time, and movies. Flyers were passed out through the school, but in case you did not get a flyer, you can contact Don Taylor at 692-5765 for registration information. If there is no answer, please leave a name and number and you will be contacted. Faith’s Family looks forward to serving your family.

This month they will be meeting at the Paulus Log Cabin and on the docket for this season will be programs on: Growing Dahlias, Different ways of using Lavender, and a program on Essential Oils, to name a few. During the year they plan to enjoy a park luncheon at the gazebo and Apple Tasting at Brumbaugh’s Fruit Farm. Their goal is to not only grow a beautiful community but grow the garden club by members. Five years ago this month I began my freelance writing career penning this weekly column for The Daily Advocate. My first column was printed on Feb. 19, 2011. I have enjoyed getting to know you and writing your family stories and/or announcements. Some weeks there are more things to include in the column than my allotted space and other weeks there are days of worry wondering what will I write about this week. I would like to thank those of you who have taken the time to send me or give me a thank you or word of encouragement concerning this column; it makes my day to know that I have so many appreciative readers out there.

May your Valentine’s Day be special and whether you write your loved ones a poem, bake them a special treat, make a handmade card, or buy them an expensive gift; the greatest Valentine’s are those from the heart.
