New Madison News: Legion to serve breakfast

Breakfast is an important meal of the day and deciding local issues and politics is equally important. A new breakfast option is opening in the community. The American Legion will be offering breakfast each morning at 7 a.m. from Monday through Friday. This new place to share a cup of coffee stared on Feb. 27.

Last week the column referred to picking up recycling materials. This is not new to the village but on Stephens Road and surrounding areas, it is new to have special containers and pick-ups every other week. Sorry if it was confusing. But the need for recycling remains important to the environment. from March 14-20. You can get information from the school office at 996-1511. The TVEA offers two $500 scholarships to graduates.

Plans are underway for the annual 5K run at the United Methodist Church. The race will be held at the church on June 4, so mark your calendar and get ready. The church is encouraging local residents to walk, run or both! Make it fun and healthy. All proceeds help to support local mission work.

Kindergarten registration is nearing. Packets are available on March 7 in the elementary office from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Your child will need to be 5 years old by Aug. l.

March is coming and bringing the usual weather surprises of the Miami Valley. Still we can look to the calendar and know spring is near with crocus and tulips. Hope you used your extra day (29th) in a special way.

Funds to support scholarships from the Tri-Village Education Association will be raised at Bob Evans in Greenville.
