New Madison News: Church hosting breakfast

0

Breakfast is moving on July 4. The community pancake breakfast will now be served at the United Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to start the holiday with a plate of pancakes and sausage. It will be the familiar scene with junior high cheerleaders helping out. The church then shares funds to help with camps and uniforms.

The Masonic Lodge has long been the first destination on our Independence Day celebration in New Madison. The lodge is not operating and the church has opened its doors to the continuation of the morning fellowship at breakfast. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children. The pancakes and sausage will keep coming! There will be juice and coffee. The breakfast is scheduled from 7 to 10 a.m. The church is handicap accessible with the elevator at the rear of the church. The public is welcome.

Camp Growth is underway at the church. It is a positive way to spend time with other children. Shared learning has been planned by Macy Fraylick. A family dinner is planned each Wednesday. Lunch is provided on class days, which includes Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. If your child was not registered, contact Macy or Carol Duffield, pastor.

Don’t miss a library highlight. The Wildlife Encounter is set for Thursday and everyone, young and old will enjoy it. It is part of the summer reading fun and sharing time with a few animal friends always brings smiles. It is set for 1 p.m. This program is possible because of a memorial fund for Robert Bennett.

This week it is congratulations to the school and community for the memorial benches at Tri-Village. Lots of plastic was saved and collected. This enabled the school to put three benches on the property dedicated to Mitchel McCabe (student and sports fan), Susie Midlam (teacher) and Jonathan Kinnison (student). Shawn Thomas headed up the campaign. There were lots of plastic caps, weighing 1200 pounds. Instead of waste, it became these benches.

Congratulations to Clayton Murphy for the NCAA championship in the 1500 meter run. The Tri-Village graduate will be working toward Olympic participation.
