Faith United Methodist Church of Arcanum will host a community pool party at the Arcanum Community Pool for members of the Arcanum Community on July 25 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. There is no admission to attend the pool party as this is a gift of love from Faith Church to the community.

The event planners ask that children 12 and under be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Invite your friends and join us for a night of free family fun at the Arcanum Community Pool on July 25. The Arcanum Area Business Association has a special event planned for July 25 starting at 5 p.m. The excitement is building leading up their first “Family Movie Night.” One of the new additions to the evening is the inclusion of not one, not two, but three Bounce Houses for the kids! These have been included thanks to additional support from Belle Fiole Tanning & Spa, Dynes & Dynes, Garbig & Schmidt, Greenville National, Orme Hardware, Second National Bank, Suttons, Lyle Bixler Realty, Sink Jewelers, Miller’s Tavern and Keith Troutwine Insurance. Food and fun with trailers from A# Music Boosters, Crème de la Crème Cakery, and Nacho Pig; drinks from FHC Fellowship, and then topped off with popcorn and the movie “The Boxtrolls” shown in the Ben Franklin parking lot sometime around 9 p.m.

Artwork by former Arcanum resident Christopher Madden and former Arcanum High School teacher Marilee Pallant will be on display at historic Bear’s Mill beginning July 24 when both artists are eagerly anticipating greeting old friends and acquaintances during a reception from 5 until 9 p.m. in the Mill’s Clark Gallery. The exhibit title, “Illuminations,” directly derives from Pallant’s description of her luminous paintings.

“Illumination can be defined as radiance, enlightenment, insight, revelation; the brilliant work produced by these two artists who retain deep connections to our community aptly demonstrates each of those exciting qualities, and much more,” said Marti Goetz, executive director of Friends of Bear’s Mill.

The reception offering appetizers and beverages is free and open to the public. The artists will speak briefly about their work, methods, and inspiration at 7 p.m.

On July 25, Christopher Madden will be giving plein air painting pointers to artists, professional or hobbyist, at 10 a.m. Bring your art supplies and recreate the beautiful scenes at and around the Mill in any medium you choose. Meet in the Mill Gallery at 2 p.m. to share your artwork. Registration is $35. Call to register: 937-548-5112.

Kilimanjaro, hiking through Africa’s land of extremes — the savanna, rain forest, moorland, alpine desert, and the arctic— as they learn to walk in God’s wisdom. Children will gather each evening at opening and closing base camp assemblies for fun-filled excitement, music, and drama. They will trek through High Adventure Lesson Time where God’s Word is cherished and relevant, practical lessons are taught in hands-on ways; Grassland Games that will provide thrills and chills; Summit Snacks where top-of-the-world treats are served; Safari Science and Savanna Crafts where a variety of science and crafts are waiting to be explored. Reaching the summit will be celebrated on Friday evening with a Camp K Carnival for VBS participants and their families.
