New Madison News: Tradition carries on

0

Tradition runs deep in the heartland of the United States. This is especially true in ”small town USA.” The Tri-Village Community and School Fair marks 83 years on Oct. 7 and 8.

This year’s theme is “Following our Dreams and Building on New Traditions.” Combined with the first homecoming events to celebrate football, activities will keep the community humming with activity. There will be king and queen crownings the night of the football game. There will be games and activities during the week end and lots of good food.

Kick off Saturday with pancakes and sausage at the United Methodist Church. You are welcome to enjoy a hearty breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. This will get you ready for the full day of activities planned by the School Fair committee, including the 11 a.m. parade.

Lunch is available at the school with alumni associations joining to bring good food options till 5 p.m. Meals, soup, sandwiches and dessert are offered.

The Legion is offering chicken suppers beginning at 5 p.m.

This is Mom’s time out of the kitchen!

All of this takes work and time. Thanks to the School Fair Committee for planning and getting the word out to the community. This week’s community salute is for this group for spearheading the autumn celebration.

This committee includes: Monyca Schlechty, president; Teresa Pipenger, vice president; Chantelle Sebring, secretary; Debbie Scantland, treasurer, and these dedicated members: Rita Barger, Kami Hollinger, Cindy Hoch, Diane McNew, Brenda Miller, Brian Miller, Tami Scantland, Sandy Thomas and Shawn Thomas.
