New Madison News: Calendars filling up

0

Time for the holiday season to occupy us over the next several weeks. The calendar is marked “busy” for most of us. Our grocery carts are filled and kitchens take on those familiar smells of baked goods.

Not everyone will have the choice of menu items and people are grateful for assistance in providing a holiday meal.

The Harrison Street Baptist Church is a center for good will and food provisions for the Tri-Village area. The members provide a food pantry and will be especially mindful of the holidays. The pastor is Kyle Herrman and if you would like to help in this food effort, the address is 140 S. Harrison St., New Madison.

The community Thanksgiving service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. This year’s host church is the New Madison United Methodist Church. It is located at 149 N. Main St., New Madison. A combined choir will provide inspirational music.

First responders in the Tri-Village district will be honored this year. In a rural area, their service is a true blessing to all of us. Many hours are donated to the well being of the Tri-Village area.

A special collection of hats and gloves will be appreciated and then distributed to youngsters needing warmth against cold winter days.

The American Legion is already planning holiday events including distributing fruit baskets to shut-ins. This is an annual event sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary. The auxiliary is also planning for the Sugar Plum Market Bake Sale on Dec. 3. The sale opens at 10 a.m.

Mark your calendars ahead for the children. The annual Breakfast with Santa is planned for Dec. 3. The children love this local visit with the fella in red! More information will be printed but circle the date in red!

Enjoy the sunny but crisp days leading into the holiday season. Remember those needing a card, phone call or visit.
