Recently my husband and I participated in our first 7k race which was held at the Ohio Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. On hand were 3,000 runners with another 2,500 guests.
The event was produced by Rocketship Sports Management of Greenville and named the Shawshank Hustle, because the movie Shawshank Redemption was filmed at the vacated reformatory. After the 4.6-mile trail we had a complimentary tour through the reformatory and a free four-minute ride on a vintage carousel located on North Main Street.
We’ve never taken much time for travel so we proceeded to Holmes County to see what others have told us throughout the years. Along the way we met many wonderful people who enriched our trip. Since we enjoyed ourselves so much we discussed other places we could visit in the future. We decided we’ve been in many places, but neither one of us had ever been in Kahoots. Apparently, you can’t go alone. You have to be in Kahoots with someone. So we put that on our list.
Then I realized I’d never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there, so I figure it’s probably not my style. I have, however, been in Sane. You can’t fly there since they don’t have an airport—you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there.
I thought we should go to Conclusions, but since we have to jump, it sounded like too much physical activity…I’ll just stick to walking. I’ve been in Doubt before but don’t really want to visit there too often. Steve and I have also been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
Sometimes I’m in Capable, and I go there more often as I get older. One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenaline going and gets the heart racing, which is my version of a cardio workout. Steve and I may have already been in Continent, but I don’t remember what country we were in. Guess it’s an age thing. They tell me it is very wet and damp there.
Needless to say we are still working on our list.

Members of the Versailles Rotary Club have tickets for their upcoming BBQ chicken dinner for sale. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at Phelan Insurance, Books by the Bushel or any rotary member. The carryout dinner can be picked up at the old fire station from 3:30 – 6 p.m. on Aug. 28.
Congratulations to the Alumni Softball Tournament Committee for the best ever tournament. Also congratulations to the winners of each division: The Class of 2009 champions of the Young Division and the Class of 1992 champions of the Seasoned Division.
