The New Madison Public Library wants your help. As the library grows and extends service into the community, the board of trustees and the director, Brenda Miller, are looking for patron input. A survey was recently initiated for this purpose and you are urged to respond. On bright yellow paper, it will beckon you to respond on questions related to service, facility and contact ease.
You can help map the future programming by checking boxes relating to events that currently exist and there is space for new ideas. Reading material and services can be evaluated. This will be a valuable tool in the direction of your local library and you can participate in a focus group session with a representative from the State Library of Ohio. Note the special sign-up area on the survey.
Take time, review the survey and check your choices. Return it to the library or mail to Brenda Miller, director, P.O. Box 32, New Madison. Remember to circle the deadline on your calendar: April 30.
National Library Week is scheduled April 9-15 Spotlighting the relevancy of libraries across the nation, the local facility will have Tri-Village class visits. The third grade is set to visit Friday and the first grade gathers at the library on April 21 for a Dr. Seuss Read-In. Teen Crafternoon is planned for April 13, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Busy Bee Story time continues to entertain on Mondays and this winds up, (or down), on May 22. LEGO keeps creativity alive at 3 p.m. every fourth Tuesday. And Summer Reading is scheduled from June 5 to July 28. Jot that on the calendar pages yet to flip.
Spring brings an urge to rejuvenate our lawns and outdoor spaces. The village council initiated a project for making New Madison ready for the “outdoor season.” Mayor Lisa Garland would like to work with the council in organizing a group of citizens interested in beautifying the village. She urged mowing the grass, trimming shrubs and planting flowers.
Plan ahead with the school’s April calendar. There is an early release on April 13th (1:15 p.m.) and the Easter break is from April 14-17.
The inaugural Clayton Murphy 5K takes place on Sunday at the high school. The run/walk event begins at the football field under the sponsorship of the FFA. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the event starts at 9 a.m.
This week congratulations to a number of Tri-Village students who have notched their own personal best in power lifting: Holly Back, Aaron Stewart, Nick Napier, Natasha Napier, Marissa Roark, Katherine Banis, Josh Sims, Cassidy Ditty, Lauren Banis, Clara Buckley, Foster Brown, Damien Edwards, Blake Brandenburg, Dagan White, Ian Bailey, Willie Strunk, Tyler Bragg, Trevor Brown, Dylan Holsapple, Trevor Mote, Hunter Gillett, Elijah Driver, Chance Davis and Nick Varvel. The girls were fifth at the state powerlifting meet and the boys placed sixth out of 10 teams.
Congratulations to the Friends of the Library and their recent program on Douglas Dickey and the medal of honor. It was a moving presentation at the Heritage Hall. There is a permanent display at the Garst Museum.
Congratulations to anyone with a winning bracket in the NCAA basketball tourney. Bleary eyed and without bracket I think it is time for the Reds to come home!
