The news in Union City continues to be heading towards art and more art. The Artisan Loop is now open and intends to create a community of talented individuals who lift one another up by way or promoting each other businesses.

In doing so, owner, Jamie Matchett said “I believe we all benefit to a higher level of thinking and performance. We will loop our knowledge and advise back into our local environment in hopes to find hidden talents in others. It is important to nurture confidence in new skills, so uplifting and encouraging words are promoted in this group.”

She firmly believes hobbies, inner passions and desires are the sole solution to cleaning up the streets. It takes a community. The Artisan Loop is located at 336 Oak Street in Union City. Check out her Facebook page and see the work she is doing. She is encouraging craft skills and working with children. No better place to do it than in a community that has ART.

Carol Strock Wasson has accepted into the 2017 IAPS (International Association of Pastel Societies)PASTELWORLD Exhibition “Down by the Tracks 18 by 24 pastel” She has been diligently working very hard to get into this prestigious show!

Stateline Heritages Days is almost here. August 3-5. Vote for the most Photogenic Baby and Pampered Pets at Jo’s Corner Florist, 313 N. Columbia St. The 14th Annual Summertime Photography Show at the Historic Arts Depot is sponsored by A.A.R.C. The kickoff luncheon is Thursday, August 3 at the Union City Elks. Call 765 964 3666 for tickets, $10 per person. Inflatables will be in the parking lot by the old American Legion on Pearl Street and Thursday evening Ginga Band will perform on the main state.

Old Time Revival at 6 p.m. under the Big Tent on Broadway and a Hymn sing as well with Jeri Libert.

The infamous Melodrama is under the Big Tent at 7 and 8 p.m. at 7 p.m. on Friday and at 5 and 7 p.m. on Saturday. This is always a hysterical event. Don’t miss The Randy Players performance this year.

Friday is a Fish & Chicken Fry at the Elks Club, 318 N. Columbia. Entertainment Friday night is St. Right Band on the Main State and Debbie Bryson, with older country, 50’s and gospel music under the Big Tent on Broadway at 5:30.

Neil’s A & W is sponsoring a Root Beer Buzzling Contest at 6 p.m. on Friday. Friday evenings performance will also include Thien Snips, a men’s harmony chorus group at Railroad Park Tent. The UCCHS Dance Team’s performance is on the Main State at 6 p.m. followed by the Mississinawa Valley Dance Team at 6:30. Jan Becky and the Dance Connection featuring Jan’s granddaughter Alexis Stump will be featured on the Main Stage at 6:45. More entertainment is scheduled at 8 p.m. on the Main State. The Wesley Praise Team will sing at 8:30 Friday under the Big Tent

Saturday features a Corn Hole contest at 9 a.m. A Book Sale in the Carnegie Library of Union City in the basement (lower level). Tractor pull at noon at Railroad Park and the SLHD Grand Parade will begin at 1 p.m. down Columbia St. to Pearl then over the stateline to E. Elm ending at Neil’s A & W. Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Mandy Rismiller, Country Music will perform on the Main State. The Promise Revival under the Big Tent at 3 p.m. Kiddie Tractor Pull at 4 p.m. in front of the Union City, Ohio Fire Department sponsored by Hemmelgarn & Sons, Inc.

And there is more 5 p.m. is the 12th annual Cruise In featuring St. Right, East Elm St., sponsored by the Union City, OH Fire & Rescue Association. Also at 5 p.m. is the modified truck and tractor pull at Railroad Park. Spittin Image will perform at 5 p.m. on the Main State and The Bulldogs will perform at 8 and 9:30 p.m. on the Main Stage. This performance is sponsored by Frank Miller Lumber.

Rain location for Main Stage Entertainment is the School Gym on Walnut St., Union City, In. What a great week is planned.
