Trick-or-treating—going from house to house in search of candy and other goodies—has been a popular Halloween tradition in the United States and other countries for an estimated 100 years. Arcanum’s Trick or Treat will be on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Arcanum High School National Honor Society is once again sponsoring the Trick or Treat for Canned Food Event. Throughout the week of Oct. 19 – 25 our high school students will be collecting money in a competition between classes known as Penny Wars. This money will be used to purchase canned food items. At the home football game Friday night vs. MV, fans will be able to bring a canned food item or donate a dollar and receive a dollar off admission to the game!

On Sunday, Oct. 25 from 2-4 p.m., high school students will be around town collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items during the community Trick or Treat. This year their goal is 3500 non-perishable food items! If you would like to help but will not be home during the Trick or Treat event, please leave your items on your front porch or drop them off at the high school. Please consider helping this worthy cause!

Faith United Methodist Church is getting involved in Arcanum’s annual “Trick or Treat” on Oct. 25. They invite “trick or treaters” to stop by their parsonage lawn on the corner of Maple and Greenmoor that day. You will be able to bump into some of our members costumed as a character from the Bible and receive a treat. Members of our congregation and community of Arcanum encourage children and adults to enjoy a safe and fun day of “Trick or Treat”.

“Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents said, ‘Never take candy from strangers.’ And then they dressed me up and said, ‘Go beg for it.’ I didn’t know what to do! I’d knock on peoples’ doors and go, ‘Trick or treat. No thank you.’” ~Rita Rudner
