Ivester Park Beautification Project

Have you driven through Ivester Park this past week? It certainly looks wonderful, a special thanks to all the volunteers who helped mulch trees in Ivester Park last Saturday, May 9. Working with Arcanum Village Administer Bill Kessler and Mark Poston, Lead-Street Dept., on this park beautification projected, many people came together with their trailers, pitchforks, and energy to spread leaf mulch. A special thanks to Landon Haney and Levi Walker, Arcanum FFA students, who used their own equipment to move mulch throughout the park; one using a Bobcat, the other a small front-end loader.

The village supplied a large front-end loader to load trailers maned by teams of volunteers: Kevin and Mary Bolyard, Bev Rench and Kirk Honeyman, also Connie and Mike Wells. Helping to spread the mulch where Jim Hill, Tom Jones, and Dusty Walker. Also helping were Arcanum Preservation Society members Tom Kessler and Angela Herron. The VFW also donated the use of their trailer for this project and members of Community of Faith Church were also available to help.

The personal equipment Landon and Levi brought were instrumental in speeding the process and in the success of mulching the trees. These young men each have their own business, Haney’s Mowing & Landscaping and Walker’s Outdoor Landscaping. The group commented on how nice the park looks with the trees mulched. They volunteered to help again next year. This project enhances the landscaping around the gazebo and as well as all the many plantings throughout the park which the Arcanum Garden Club has put in place and taken care of for many years. Thank you everyone for all your hard work and volunteerism.

Speaking of the Arcanum Garden Club, I noticed today that they have been busy planting the flower pots on all the corners uptown and are getting ready for the summer season, thank you ladies for your dedication and hard-work for all to enjoy every summer!
