Ansonia bowling teams earn their 1st wins of the season

NEW BREMEN – The Ansonia boys and girls bowling teams both earned their first wins of the season in West Ohio High School Bowling Conference action on Saturday at Speedway Lanes in New Bremen.

It was an eventful week in the WOHSBC as in addition to Ansonia’s teams picking up their first wins the Mississinawa Valley girls won and Versailles boys beat Mississinawa Valley’s boys. Additionally, the Versailles girls suffered their first loss of the season to undefeated Coldwater.

The Ansonia girls recorded their first win of the season with a 1,792-1,727 win against Fort Loramie. Meghan Wilson led Ansonia with games of 130 and 172, Jordan Campbell had a 106 and a 111, Rebecca Thornhill had a 104 and a 109, Audrey Kelly rolled a 100, Rose Swanson rolled a 97, and Molly Walls bowled a 70.

The Mississinawa Valley girls beat Minster 1,970-1,840. Spencer Warren led Mississinawa Valley with games of 205 and 150, Tiffany Westfall rolled a 133 and a 127, Tabitha Richards rolled a 119 and a 130, Payton Reichard had a 95 and a 145, and Kayla Harris rolled a 111 and a 104.

In a battle for the WOHSBC South division lead, the Versailles girls lost 2,583-2,478 to Coldwater. Makenzie Berning led Versailles with games of 191 and 193, Hannah Niekamp rolled a 178 and a 180, Brigette Holsapple rolled a 157 and a 174, Olivia Bruening rolled a 186, and Brooke Condon rolled a 147.

The Ansonia girls improved to 1-6 and the Mississinawa Valley girls improved to 2-4 with their wins. The Versailles girls fell to 6-1 while Coldwater remained unbeaten at 7-0 to take a one-game lead on the Lady Tigers.

The Ansonia boys beat Marion Local 2,265-2,181. Seth Philippi led Ansonia with games of 243 and 178, John Fischer had games of 153 and 180, Trent Rader bowled a 137 and a 125, Austin Hill had games of 125 and 115, Allen Christman rolled a 132, and Jeremy Rismiller had a 118.

The Versailles boys beat Mississinawa Valley 2,602-2,263. Alex Groff led Versailles with games of 213 and 189, Kyle Cotner had games of 178 and 184, Brandon Bradley rolled a 183, Luke Shellhass rolled a 162, Brody Hyre had a 152, Quayd Pearsom bowled a 143, Jacob Wenig had a 133, and Michael Hemmelgarn rolled a 126. Brandon White led Mississinawa Valley with games of 135 and 204, Andrew Reichard rolled a 171 and a 151, Alex Longfellow had games of 144 and 157, Lucas Newbauer rolled a 145 and a 144, Matt Slyder had a 146, and Joe Teeter rolled a 133.

Versailles’ boys improved to 4-3 while Ansonia’s boys improved to 1-6 with their wins. The Mississinawa Valley boys fell to 3-4.

On Saturday the WOHSBC teams will compete at McBo’s Lanes in Versailles. At 9:45 a.m. the Ansonia girls will face Minster, the Mississinawa Valley girls will face New Bremen, and the Versailles girls will face Fort Loramie. The Ansonia boys will face Minster, the Mississinawa Valley boys will face Marion Local, and the Versailles boys will face New Bremen at 1 p.m.
