Versailles boys basketball team falls in AP state poll

COLUMBUS – Tri-Village maintained its No. 2 ranking while Versailles fell in the second Associated Press boys basketball state poll of the 2015-16 season.

Tri-Village remained second in the Division IV state rankings behind Van Wert Lincolnview for a second consecutive week. Last week both teams received six first place votes, but this week Lincolnview received 12 while Tri-Village received five. The Patriots did move closer in point totals, only trailing Lincolnview by seven this week.

After being ranked seventh in Division III in the first poll of the season, Versailles fell to No. 11 in this week’s state rankings. Lima Central Catholic, Massillon Tuslaw, Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph, Berlin Hiland, Dayton Northridge and Columbus Grandview Heights remained ahead of Versailles in the state rankings. Beachwood, Miami East, Worthington Christian and Cincinnati Purcell Marian each jumped ahead of Versailles in the poll.

A number of other schools with local connections are ranked this week. Wayne from the Greater Western Ohio Conference is ranked No. 1 in Division I, Trotwood-Madison from the GWOC is ranked No. 11 in Division II, Miami East from the Cross County Conference is ranked No. 6 in Division III, and Fort Recovery from the Midwest Athletic Conference is ranked No. 15 in Division IV.
