Versailles girls basketball team wins MAC game vs. Coldwater

VERSAILLES – The Versailles girls basketball team beat Coldwater 61-42 in a Midwest Athletic Conference game on Thursday.

Versailles jumped out to a 22-7 first quarter lead and led 41-25 at halftime. The Lady Tigers extended their lead to 56-30 in the third quarter en route to the 61-42 victory.

Lauren Monnin led Versailles with a game-high 18 points. Also for the Lady Tigers, Emily Marshal scored 10 points, Danielle Winner scored 10, Kami McEldowney scored eight, Kristin Langston scored four, Kami Ording scored four, Brynna Blakeley scored two, Clair Schmitmeyer scored two, Camille Watren scored two, and Ellen Peters scored one.

Kourtney Diller led Coldwater with nine points in the game. Also for the Cavaliers, Maura Hoying scored eight points, Danielle Welsch scored eight, Brooke Klosterman scored seven, Denise Schwieterman scored six, Josie Luthman scored two, and Madie Schoenherr scored two.

Versailles improved to 14-6 overall and 4-4 in the MAC with the win while Coldwater fell to 8-10 overall and 2-5 in the MAC.

Versailles will play at Tri-Village on Tuesday.
