Bradford girls basketball team defeats Riverside

BRADFORD – The Bradford girls basketball team beat Riverside 48-25 on Monday.

Bradford’s defense clamped down and prevented Riverside from reaching double-digit scoring in any period. The Lady Railroaders led 8-2 through one quarter, 19-7 at halftime and 30-16 through three quarters on their way to the 23-point victory.

Mackenzie Weldy led Bradford with 19 points in the victory. Also for the Lady Railroaders, Mandi Bates scored 17 points, Kelly Moore scored nine, Olivia Hart scored two, and Chelsea Gill scored one.

Courtnie Smith led Riverside with seven points. Also for the Pirates, Marissa Davis scored six points, Shelby Giles scored five, Aubrie Stillings scored four, Payton Manahan scored two, and Aubrey Stephens scored one.

Bradford improved to 8-11 with the win, and Riverside fell to 6-14. The Lady Railroaders will play host to Ansonia on Thursday.
