VERSAILLES – Versailles’ Scott McEldowney was named the Midwest Athletic Conference boys basketball coach of the year for the 215-16 season.
Coach McEldowney led the Versailles boys to an 8-1 conference record, winning the program’s first MAC championship since 2004.
Also for Versailles, sophomore Justin Ahrens was named first team all-MAC.
Senior Brett McEldowney and junior Alex Wendel both were named second team all-conference.
Junior Austin Knapke made the league’s honorable mention team.
Coldwater senior Andy Brunet was named the MAC’s boys basketball player of the year.
Versailles won the MAC championship with an 8-1 record. St. Henry finished second with a 7-2 conference record, Coldwater and Fort Recovery tied for third at 6-3, Marion Local and Minster tied for fifth at 5-4, New Bremen and New Knoxville tied for seventh at 3-6, Delphos St. John’s finished ninth at 2-7, and Parkway finished 10th with a 0-9 conference record.
